Welcome to your time of retreat! I don't know about you all, but at day 2 of social distancing with school out on dismissal and everyone working from home, my anxiety has hit the roof! ha! Keeping my home clean has sadly been way hard with my little tornadoes going through it. I am super thankful though that I have a full time job that I'm able to do from home to help during this chaotic time, along with my outlet here. That being said, for many of us, this is going to be a time of creativity! Trying to be creative in all ways of life, either with finances, food, keeping children busy, and helping you survive by tuning into your creative outlet! I hope that this post, along with the other tours this week, will bring you inspiration and ideas to keep your mind busy and your creativity flowing!

Proof of my chaos:
Yep. That picture was taken about 10 minutes after I finished taking these pictures for this tour :) At least they are having fun!

Let's get back to this other reality that only lasts one minute :) ....Today, I'm sharing my spring living room tour along with many other talented bloggers tours going on this week! These tours are hosted by the amazing Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. If you are joining along the tour hop, welcome from Modern Glam. Isn't Ashley's home just so beautiful and inviting? If you want some serious inspiration, her home has it!

As for my living room, here's one of the first views you get when walking in. I love using whites and neutrals against different types of wood. As you can tell, I'm all about mixing wood. At one time, black didn't match with brown and brass didn't match with nickle. But now they do! I seriously think, that's all in the past and it's okay to get creative with those things now! Same with wood :)

I try to keep this room light and airy so the wood tones pop. Plus, a bright light home for me just calms me and lifts my spirit. I added pops of greenery throughout this space to mark the beginnings of spring.

My builtin shelves stay the same the majority of the year, but I do change out the faux greens in the pots. For spring, I used lavender I found at Ikea.

The shelves on the other side house a plethora of firewood. I love the character this brings to the space. I have actually got a lot of concerns and questions about having this amount of wood in my house...mainly about bugs. I haven't seen any bugs come from these. I was super worried about it also when I was putting them up. I actually left the majority of the wood unbundled in my basement for a good week or two before bringing them upstairs. If there was a crazy looking piece that looked like something was living in it, I tossed it. All of that being said, I think it's about time to switch these logs to books! I just have to find enough books to fill this thing up :) I guess I'll be having a massive bonfire when that time comes!

The centerpiece to my spring mantel is this amazing repurposed wood world map from DecorSteals. This thing is big and sure makes a statement! I then added vintage-y little items to fill up the mantel shelf. In the middle, I have vintage books held together by some corbels also from DecorSteals. I then flanked that with these beautiful vintage looking terracotta pots I found at Michaels. I swagged a macrame tassel piece along the birch wood to give it a little boho vibe. I finished it up with some swagged greenery.

As for my coffee table and couch, I kept it neutral. Ever since I bought this rug, I've been adding color so I couldn't wait to go back to my roots and just do whites and creams with the pillows.
I moved this cabinet behind the couch last year, and it's one of the best decisions I have made in a while....mainly because it has given me another place to decorate :) And of course, it offers loads of toy storage. Yep, my kids play area is all behind this couch and you wouldn't even notice!

This apothecary cabinet is still one of my favorite finds. I use it somewhat as a side table for the couch. The couch's arm is actually really high so a normal sized side table is too small. This cabinet offers a ton of character and storage too! It was a Hobby Lobby find I repainted.
I have a few things that go on most of my tabletops in my house which are faux greenery, books, clocks, and candlesticks. I feel like you can never really go wrong with that mixture. I have learned the past year that swagging garland adds that extra layer that sometimes completes an area!

Here are a couple wider views of this space. I have a feeling it won't be looking like this for many many days to come!

It's been one of those years that it's super hard to get into summer. I really want it so bad, but the weather is totally not cooperating. Because of that, I'm totally feeling like it's still April. I'm going to feel gypped out of a summer come fall. All my outdoor projects have been on hold because of the crazy rain and winds these past few months. One would think that would make me play around with the stuff inside my house more, but nope! Ha! Totally not. Instead I'm just in rebellion, I guess. I don't know how I am, but I feel like I am :)

I shared with you my summer dining room and entry way over the past two weeks, and today I'll be sharing with you my front living room. I loved the colors and how I decorated my main living room during the spring, so I brought a lot of that over into this room for summer to give it a little refresh. I didn't do big changes, but this just shows that a few small changes can help refresh a space easily.
Yes, there are a lot of pillows on this couch! But, it rarely get's used so it totally works. This actually folds out into a bed. It's the perfect piece of furniture for a multi-use room.

I brought in the pops of pink with the pillows and this throw blanket. Yes, blankets are essential in my house during the summer. They are used over and over again. I like it hot, my husband likes it cold. So, yeah, I get the short end of the stick on that one apparently :) Along with the pinks, I brought in lots of faux greenery.
I'm all about multi-functional furniture in this room. This bench works perfect to conceal toys, yet is a completely functional coffee table.

Years and years ago, I was so hyper focused on not adding pictures into my decor because it didn't match or it would throw things off. I got over that quickly when I had kids. I had so many photos that I didn't want to just be forgotten on a phone or sd card. So, I decided to create a gallery wall for each kid. I told myself I would go through them and update them as time goes by, but I haven't done that much....and I don't really mind. I love looking at their sweet baby faces :)
I changed up this mantel quite a bit from spring, made it a little cleaner. Truthfully, it felt so weird looking in this room without all the stuff on the mantel and wall :) You can see the spring mantel here if you don't know what I'm talking about.
That's it for my front room! I am so excited to share with you my next project on my patio. It has made such a difference in the space! So be sure to check back or follow me on social media for links and updates! :)

Christmas season is in full swing around here. I have a list of projects a mile long. I'm sure I'll get to some, but some just don't matter :) It's like one of those things, you get your list so long and feel like you can't do it and stress over all of it. Well, I'm just letting go this Christmas and keeping things pretty simple. This wood slice wreath is one of those crafts that I knew I wanted to do and wouldn't take a long time doing it. I'm excited to share this tutorial with the Christmas I DIYed That blog hop hosted by Jen from Noting Grace. These ladies are sharing some wonderful Christmas inspiration. Be sure to check them all out (links below).

This wreath serious took about 5 minutes to make. You just need a few things to make it:
Wood discs (about 3-4" in diameter. I bought my here)
Large bowl or plate
Hot glue
Ribbon or bow
Jute
Pine cones.

I used 13 pieces as the bottom layer and 13 for the top.

My bowl is about 10" in diameter. I picked the largest discs and placed them around the bowl.

Once I had them all in place and lined up how I wanted, I moved the bowl.

Then with each of the smaller discs, I placed some hot glue on the back and put it right on top of where two bottom discs touch.

I did this same process around the whole wreath.

Now that the wreath is made, it's time to add the accessories. First up is the bow. I decided to make my own bow out of ribbon I found at Hobby Lobby. I cut a 14" piece, then looped it, securing the ends with hot glue.

Next I cut another 14" piece, placed the middle on the back of the looped piece. I then cut about a 4" piece, folded it in half, and looped it around both those pieces securing it in place on both ends with hot glue.

I fluffed it out, and hot glued it onto one of the discs.

Next, I cut 3 pieces of jute at varying lengths.I glued the ends of each one onto the top of a pine cone. I tied the ends of the jute all together.

I glued the knot of the jute onto the disc behind the bow. I also did a lazy man's route of creating a thing to hang the wreath by hot gluing a two inch piece of jute on both ends to the discs. I can't guarantee this will hold it :)

I love how simple this wreath is, both in looks and how easy it is to make. Just lots of hot glue!

It's been fun playing around with a home for this. I think I have settled on having it in my front room. What do you think?

I think it goes with the theme in here pretty well.
